JSON doesn't support comments by default but some parsers and apps allow you to add comments especially that JSON is nowadays used for configuration files where comments can be very useful.
Visual Studio Code provides a rich and easy keyboard shortcuts editing experience using Keyboard Shortcuts editor. It lists all available commands with and without keybindings and you can easily change / remove / reset their keybindings using the available actions.
- JSON Formatting Extension for Visual Studio Code. Just run Format JSON to set the language of the current file to JSON and format the content in one step. Also works in new Untitled (not saved) files. Before I always did. Cmd + K M; Type JSON; Hit Enter; Option + Shift + F to format the content; Now it is just Cmd + Shift + P and then Format JSON.

If you use Visual Studio Code IDE, comments can't be added to JSON files by default but you can enable them by setting JSONC (JSON with Comments) as the parser in VS Code.
If you edit a JSON file that contains comments. VS Code will outputs an error saying: 'Comments are not permitted in JSON.'
