UBlock Origin is not an 'ad blocker', it's a wide-spectrum content blocker with CPU and memory efficiency as a primary feature.
The reason I put uBlock Origin webext on hold is because there is currently a serious issue of not being able to open uBO's auxiliary pages, and I do not want to be constantly addressing new issues about this on GitHub. UBlock Origin is a free and open-source, cross-platform browser extension for content-filtering, including ad-blocking. The extension is available for several browsers: Safari (beta), Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Firefox, and Opera. Content you don't need such as ads or tracking scripts can significantly slow down page loading. Firefox's built-in content-blocking feature can make the pages load faster by preventing third-party trackers from loading. See Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox for desktop for details.
There are also Firefox add-ons that can block content you don't need, such as:
- The Disconnect add-on blocks invisible webpage parts that track you online.
- The uBlock Origin add-on blocks ads, trackers and other unneeded content while using less memory and CPU resources than other adblockers.
- The NoScript add-on allows you to selectively enable and disable all scripts running on websites.
